Play Guitar Hero – The Easy Way
Rocking to the rhythm of the guitar is very exciting. But the thrill is multiplied when you play your guitar numbers favorite dance music and others. Ps3 Console – Nice Improvement, Better Price
I’ve had my Slim for a few days, and I have to say I’m impressed with how much more smoothly it runs compared to my old 80GB PS3 Console. I don’t know how good its power consumption really is, but it’s quieter, and its heat output is noticeably less. I live in a townhome with a poorly designed AC for the top floor and the heat output of any device in my bedroom is noticeable. I have felt a small but noticeable drop in the ambient temperature when gaming and that alone made this worth the upgrade for me. Aside from no backwards compatibility, my biggest complaint is only 2 USB ports. We use custom Rock Band peripherals from Logitech for Rock band, so we need to go and buy a USB to get all the instruments to plug in as our receivers don’t have USB expansion ports in them.
One note, I see everyone complaining about the lack of backwards compatibility, and I too wish it were a feature. But it keeps being listed as a black mark against the Ps3 Console Slim, when in reality, Sony dropped this from the PS3 Console last year. No 120 GB or 40GB came with backwards compatibility, and only the first run of the 80GB models had it, but only as software emulation. Only the original 60GB had true hardware supported backwards compatibility. So while I support letting consumers know that the PS3 Console Slim won’t play PS2 games, this is a feature that’s been missing from the PS3 Console sometime before this model’s release.
PS3 Console – No Brainer for a Bluray
When the PS3 Console finally came down $100 it really became a no brainer. I was looking for a good Blu-ray player, I had purchased an older model which took so long to load and play a movie it put me off (I returned it to the store).
the PS3 Console starts playing the movie within 20-30 seconds of inserting the disk (believe me this is good for blu ray players).
For some strange reason the PS3 Console has some nice capabilities that actual blu ray players don’t seem to have. Simple things like remembering where you were on a movie, even if you ejected the disk, played a different movie and came back to the first one, it still asks you if you want to play from where you left off or not. Strangely important feature to me that is sadly missing from regular just as expensive blu-ray only players.
Built in wifi that was easy to connect to my wireless network (heard some nightmares from other people connecting their regular blu-ray wireless players to their network), and many blu-ray players don’t come with wireless built in and you have to lay out another $80-$100 to get wireless working.
So, just from the blu-ray play aspects of the PS3 Console, it has many advantages over a $200-$250 price range 2.0 Blu-Ray player.
I was suprised to see that you can also play some video formats off the hard drive, such as mpeg4. No AVI or WMV, and sadly MKV is missing but you can convert to formats it does support (if you have the right software).
I wont comment on the gaming side as what else can you say ? other than its the best on the market (outside of a well built PC).
For those of you like me, with HDTV’s that you purchased before HDMI came out, you can buy a component output AV cable specifically for the Ps3 Console for around $20-$25.
So, like I said, if your in the market for a Blu-Ray, and are into game playing, its a no brainer.
